sound deadening question?

i have a small trunk like civic size. i want to deaden my trunk lid and bottom of the back deck! how many square ft will i need to do this?

The type of deadener you use will make a difference - but anywhere from 20-30 sq.ft. should give you two solid layers. More if you really want to seal it up.

im not sure but probably 15 or 20

and i did my trunk lid and doors with 30 sq ft of duct insulation and it was enough to make a noticable difference. So if you use a quality product, 50 should be fine.

but the deadener should help with that. It will add mass to the lid, and decrease its resonant frequency, thus not jumping all over the place so easily.

i doubt it. you can check. maybe some foam inbetween the two metal pieces on the lid. but it will expand so be careful if you do. The deadening will most likely be enough

Civics have one, so a Civic like vehicle may as well. Look for bolts like these:

It's easier if you remove the plastic trim piece. Loosen the bolts and you can slide the latch up and down to adjust. There are also adjustable rubber bumpers around the edge.
