Sound Deadener

I just started putting some Fat Mat in earlier, and seems like its pretty thick stuff, and with a heat gun, it really smoothes out, and sticks pretty good.50ft roll was like $80, and comes with a cutting knife, and a roller.Very time consuming, need patience, take brakes and i recommend cutting 1ft slices. It is 18in widex50ft,hoping to have enough to do my doors also.Looks like I may be in luck with the coverage so far

Just be sure to get a couple bottles of alcahol and clean the surfaces to be applied, get all the excessive dirt/debris vacumed up.Heat gun works great if you have the funds for one, or maybe borrow one.Makes the application so much easier:D

I like Raammat BXT2. The web site offers 37sq ft for $90. It can't get a lot cheaper than that unless you go with asphalt based products. BXT2, like Dynamat, is based on butyl which has superior acoustic properties and quality. FatMat's butyl based product is actually more expensive than BXT2. Also, don't forget Ensolite or some other CCF. Could be handy in some places.

I'm using some 60mil bstock from audio technix and I love it. No heat gun required and it can be applied when it's as cold as 20 degrees out with no issues. I paid 58 shipped for a 25 sqft roll and got a $2 wallpaper seam roller from lowes

EDIT: speaking of ccf (closed cell foam) just get some weatherstripping from lowes. Comes in all kinds of sizes and costs $4 for a 10' roll. I put some on my rear windshield and it doesn't flex at all now

In a sealed trunk, wouldnt it be ok to use peel & seal? The odor shouldnt get into the cabin, or am I thinking wrong? Id like to cover everything metal in my trunk, and peel & seal would cut the cost down a whooole lot.

Do you plan on keeping the car for a while? I am apprehensive about putting any type of sticky deadener on my trunk lid.
Audiotechnix doesn't have any writing on it if that's what you are worried about. Alternatively you could put the deadener on then do a couple coats of paint to hide it, if you really wanted to

Look in the build logs, the 01 accord of keep_faith_alive, he posted pics somewhere where he carpeted over his deadened trunk lid. Looks very nice to!
