sound deadener?

I was just going to post this question myself, but seen you beat me to it.

I have searched the forums and alot of post are from year or 2 ago. I have seen where people say Fatmat sucks because it is asphalt but from I've seen at there website there product advertising they do say rubberized butyl.

For a roll of 50 sqft Fatmat is $80 shipped. Also they got this stuff R-Blox that claims to be 70 mil thick that i never heard of for the same price. Then the RAAmat bxt you get 62 sqft and is 60 mil for $120 a roll plus shipping.

So is Fatmat really that bad still if it is rubberized butyl like they say? Also how is that R-blox stuff? or is the RAAmat BXT worth the extra money?

I used ( eDead) on my truck and it works great! Its not very expensive either too. This is what i used:

Good luck man on making your mind.

Here is a write-up i made on how to sounddeaden doors:

oh dear god. do NOT go suggesting that after the threads recently. DO a search for eDead OP and you'll see what I am talking about. It's not like it USED to be...

here I searched for you http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=321911&highlight=edead

and another http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=227749

your welcome for saving you. (i was almost suckered in by the low price as well, but managed to search and see how horrible the new crap really is)

from what I have read I would suggest raamat (sp?) or second skin

I just went down the same path and from my research it came down to a few brands that have consistently gotten good recommendations - SecondSkin, Cascade, and Raamat. People have used others such as FatMat and eDead, and even Peal and Seal from Lowe's, that cost less and are happy. Out of the three good brands Raamat is the cheapest.

I ended up getting Raamat BXT and Ensolite - delivered today and I haven't installed yet. Although getting cheaper stuff was tempting, with as expensive and painful to install as it is I want to do it once and not having to worry about it ruining my car in 2-3 years down the road.

Second Skin FTWFW hands down. No questions asked. best you can buy. THE BEST.

There's a website somewere showing its heat resistance and thermal insulation abilities and acoustil deading. Or something like that. Any way. its the best.

I've seen that second skin get's rave reviews but that's just too much for me to laydown and i'm not one of those people who have to have the best of the best of the best. On the flipside don't want cheap second rate crap that if i fart in my car and the temp changes the stuff falls apart (ala the posts about the edead stuff)

So is the RAAmat a good comprimise between price and effectiveness?

From what I've seen yes, that's exactly why I went w/it. Do some searches and I think you'll find that as well. I'll be able to give first hand reviews in a few days.

No doubt the SecondSkin is the best from everything I've seen. I just decided to save a few bucks.

I've used second skin and raammat, both are effective products. Raammat has a slightly thinner foil layer than second skin damplifer. Wear gloves. The foil layer can cut the shit out of your hands, especially on the second skin since it is more stiff.
