Sound Deadener

I found some B-Quiet on ebay for $126 for 100 sq. ft. and was wondering if thats the best deal out there for sound deadener? I am just putting it in the trunk to help keep the sound of the compressors on my air susp kit down a little and may do some of the rest of the car as well. I may also look into just 50 sq ft.

Any opinions on anything cheaper? Im not looking for the best stuff out either. Just some decent stuff that will keep the sound down a little.

Wow when I ordered my deadener at least I didn't ask about it first, lol! You asked and got opinions and went and bought some really cheap stuff, lol!

Figured its gotta be slightly better than Home Depot stuff. Plus during the tests it held up pretty well in heat (only gets to 90 degrees in Ohio). I just had bad experiences with FatMat so I didnt go that route on ebay. Remember, this isnt going in a car with subs or anything. Its just something to lay over POR-15 and keep the sound of the compressors down a little in the hatch.

People say that all the time... 'my car never gets that hot anyway so who cares'. The test goes up to 500 degrees not only to finally meet the failing point of the quality butyl mats, but also to simulate a lower heat exposure over a prolonged period. Heat portion of SDS lasted minutes, exposure in your car should withstand years of exposure. I dont know about you guys, but the mats with (clearly) higher heat resistance would certainly last longer to lesser temperature exposures.

Heat exposure over time is especially important to asphalt based mats, as the asphalt actually changes form over time exposed to heat ('bakes' if you will) which diminishes its dampening and adhesion properties.

In other words, dont take the temp rating at the top of the heat chart in SDS too literally. Its meant more as a comparison of the products in the test than as a direct relationship to average weather conditions where you live. All too many people make this mistake when looking at that table of information.

There have been quite a few reports of the eDead v1² peeling itself off. I've looked at it and it is easy to see why - the adhesive is very weak and the Mylar facing has a very strong inherent curl.

I've never seen a forum where the same questions come up every single day. If you are trying to go as cheaply as you can, find a butyl adhesive mat with aluminum foil facing and look at price per unit of mass. How good a value is a super thin product like eDead v1² if you need 4 layers to equal 1 layer of a better product?
