I recently purchased an MTX TC2002 amplifier which is powering a MTX Thunder 12" Car Subwoofer (TC712). It is the only speaker using this amp but if It is constantly tripping the amp on moderate volume levels but. I was told that I am overdriving the amp and this is why it keeps tripping. This is what I was told by the installer. The whole system was installed professionally so all the wiring etc. is correct.
Now, the sub is in a bassworks box which is specked for this sub. I don't think I am overdriving the amp. It i sin a work truck (Ford Econoline 250) so the compartment is small. I was told that if I added another 12" sub it would not trip the amp because it would be moving more air so I would get more bass. Is this correct? I was also told that I should upgrade to the MTX TC4001 which is a class "D" amp, but they said it may also overheat and trip. Can someone please tell help me here. I don't have room for another box so I am stuck with just the one.
Thanks for any advice.
