yay or nay? has with my 3 previous setups, an 88 cougar, an 87 ***** am, and a 98 explorer, but i'm being told that i'm completely full of shit. who else has metered before and after deadening, and what are your impressions of the difference in loudness to the ear?

I guess it can go either way. You'll increase how loud the music is vs background noise, which slightly lowers the overall volume level, especially if you had lots of rattling before, rattling panels can be quite loud. So i guess it comes down to how you define loud?

There is validity to both, its all entirely vehicle dependant. For example, If I deadned the top of my jeep id loose a db.

Dam nit Dan, u beat me. Yea, it really depends on the vehicle. To really know the truth, is to actually test it out yourself.

I was desperate to gain .1 DB at world so I ripped the two layers of deadening off my trunk lid. Then I metered and the score was the same.

It DOES, in my vehicles, raise the ResonantFrequency.
