Sound dampining

So wehre would these tiles get used at?? Sorry if its a dumb question, im jsut lookin for some clarification. Maybe pics installed??
In the center (basically) of sheet metal panels you wish to dampen the vibration of.

Say you have a door skin that when the bass hits, it goes like this ... /\/\/\/\/\/\/\. You use Don's tiles and now the panel goes like this ... ~~~~~.

Technically speaking. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Lol on ur animations. From what i read, it only said on like flat panels. So would i even use this on my door, or for only big panels like my roof? Can this also say be put on the inside of like ur quarterpanel to stop any vibrations????

I dont recall the portion of the website you are referring to, but Im confident 'flat panels' were mentioned simply because they tend to be the more prone to excessive flex, as any bends in sheet metal tend to stiffen it in this regard. Door panels would be a good place to use it, as would a roof, or even quarter panels. Just dont place the tile itself on, say a sharp 90 degree bend in a panel. It wont alter vibrations any noticeable amount there.
Oh and Don, if you read this, you have my permission to use my technical animation from above describing your product's performance. Dont let it fool you, I didn't spent too terribly much time on it, Im a graphics wizard.

I think I'll reserve the graphics until I'm ready for billboard or TV advertising //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I definitely need to clarify the flat panel phrasing on the site. I didn't intend it to mean perfectly planar, I meant it as the opposite of convoluted, sharply bent, etc. Any gently curved panel that isn't braced is a good candidate - doors, roof, quarter panels, floors (away from sharp bends, welds and seat mounting points). Sorry for the confusion.

well I took my door panel off. I noticed that a majority of my door isn't taken up by my window.... I've seen some doors that the window is about all that fits in there. I was also looking at the door panel to see if i could deconstruct it to cut it up to make a custom door pod that wouldn't stick out. but would be close to factory height now... I am going to need a decent amount of stuff lol. DON thanks for the sample, I did install it tonight. at about 4 in the morning lol. gotta love the mag light. I'll post up pics soon. I can say this. With the sample you sent The amount of clarity that even just that little amount made is to say the least leaving me speechless. I put the foil on the inner skin then put the closed cell foam basicly on top of that but a little to the side. Then used the barrier to cover most of what I could on one of my doors. now its only one door but still ITs noticeable. Not only can the mids be picked up more clearly now but outside the truck there isn't as much audio being heard thru the doors. ( I was able to piss the neighbors off one night with the truck sealed up with no subs running. all door speakers lol) Thanks for a great product sample. and I will def be getting a few more things from you in the near future.

I also will be recieving another sample but from ANT at Second Skin. I play to use what ever he is sending to me on the other door. and do a comparison. I know that what he sends may not be the same thing or the same amount but I want to see the difference so I'll put SSA on my driver door and the SDS on my passenger. ((( THIS IS NOT MEANT TO BE A COMPETITION ))) I only want to compare my tastes to see what they will achieve for me. * I'm trying to get rid of road noise. I have a flow master exhaust on my truck and for trips its annoying. I also have some All terain tires and they are loud down the hwy. so trying to quiet up the truck a bit.

Very glad you liked the samples. Just so that it's clear for people reading this, a sample kit doesn't make for a full door treatment. It contains 1 CLD Tile, 6"x10" samples of MLV and 1/4" CCF, some Extruded Butyl Rope and Velcro Patches.

Most doors require 4-6 CLD Tiles on the exterior skin, 2 more, cut into smaller pieces on the interior skin and maybe another on the trim panel. The MLV is a barrier and really needs to cover the entire surface to block sound. It's certainly possible that strategic use of the CCF sample could go a long way toward reducing rattles between the trim panel and the sheet metal.

Just didn't want people thinking that a sample kit was the same thing as a door kit ;0

if you are comparing 2 products to see which suits your needs better that is a competition....
