Sound damping the truck

New guy here..

I'm in the stages of planning my system and will go about the purchasing in piecemeal.. (comps, sub, amps...)

I want to dynamat my car and was wondering if it would be a good idea to do prior to installing the actual system? The bose system is terrible and trying to watch a movie at cruising speed is difficult due to road noise and the magnaflow exhaust.

If so and I'm really reaching out... anyone in NY/NJ/CT want to do it for me..

Drop me a line..

I've read a lot about dynamat with second skin over here so thats the route i'd probably take..

Now can I do all this prior to installing the system?

Will this cause an issue with running wires? or placing the front and rear door speakers?

You'd want to install it before the system. You'd have to remove your system to get it out of the way.
Except for the doors! I am waiting until I change my 6.5" coaxes to components in my Civic and will deaden the doors at the same time. Every time I pull the door panels, even with a panel popper, I end up destroying clips, so I purchased a box of those too!

I've removed the doors to tint the windows, so it should not be a problem for me.

How is damplifier pro??

I'm looking for a product to reduce road noise and to boost the future audio system.

Should I apply anything else with the single sheet

I am sure I will get flamed for this, but for the most part, the dampening only adds mass and stops the panels you stick it to from resonating to the sound of your music. If you want to block noise, you need to look into mass loaded vinyl or noise absorbing foam. Sadly, for many vehicles, the benefit gained by deadening and mass loaded vinyl or noise absorbing foam is negated by the high cost.

Don't get me wrong, deadening helps with road noise to some degree, but don't expect any miracles out of it.

Hmm..

Waiting for some other characters to chime in..

and i would install the subs first to see what rattles, and go from there............

then you actually know what you need to hit with second skin + you get a little sample ; )

He is right though. Adding simple deadener will help to an extent, but won't block out or even stop all your rattles if you have a big system. And if you are trying to block road noise, I wold look into a noise barrier from either Cascade or Second Skin, which both are excellent companys.

I have a cheap deadener in my car in Fatmat, which works well, but people flame it to the high heavens here.

My next car I will Cascade. They have some really nice products.

I used the fatmat as well. To be honest, for an SPL geared system the fatmat works fine. It's not the best at silencing the car, but it helps a lot with rattle and keeping the sound inside. My 15" MT with 3kw is honestly pretty **** silent outside of the car, but loud as balls inside. and when you can get 100 sq ft for like $120, you really can't complain.

Only thing is that logo rubbing off on the skin, smurf hands at the end of the day **** //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif.

I was thinking about adding some Dynamat to my truck but I'm pretty conscious of the vehicle weight. I've spent nearly a $1000 (bought at vendor cost) on performance upgrades and I don't want that negated by a ton of extra weight.

How much weight does this stuff add to a vehicle applied generiously?

Waiting until the subs are in the vehicle to pin point the "not so obvious" rattle zones is an excellent idea. I was also wondering if this was the way to go or not.

I've just started researching this stuff myself.
