Oil prices went up also, but I don't see stores running out of clothing or food stores running out of food.

 

I would think that the shortage would cause the sale of foreign steel to go down and the price of foreign steel to go up leading to the price gap between american steel and foreign steel to shrink.

Also ED should have made an adjustment to the preorder price or stated that the first batch wouldn't be done until Sept. since this price hike occurred in June.

Just emailed them to ask them about such a thing. I had never heard of them until I started visiting this forum last week. Then after all the hubbub of this article, I decided to check out their site and low and behold, they're in North Liberty, Iowa.

Regardless, with all the banter about their stuff not coming in at the time they initially said, it must be a great product.

How is it in Iowa? Is the factory in a city environment or out in the country?

There is a shortage of IMPORTED steel in China. China actually has an abundance of steel in its reserves. The shortage is not slowing down production of any products. It is only increasing prices of steel. This has been going on for well over a year...trust me.

We have dealt with, and paid increased prices for steel for quite some time. It's kind of like gas prices... theres not a REAL shortage... just increased pricing. Prices have only gone up about 10-15% in the last 3 months.

I assure you that no one is having to wait to have steel machined for them in China. Maybe they haven't collected enough preorder money to pay for it, but they can surely have it if they want. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif We pay for it, we deal with it, we make less money per product.... why cant anyone else?
