Songs on USB

I had a similar problem where I had all my tracks arranged in different folder by genre. I had over 300 tracks in the first file and it wouldn't pick them all up, what's worse is it seemed random which would work and which wouldn't. I took half the tracks and gave them their own folder and that seemed to work for me, it seems some decks can't read that many files to a folder for whatever reason.

thats weird, 255 is the limit of most 8 bit things so that kind of hints towards something internally in the headunit, maybe it uses only a 8 bit processor or something.

id try splitting the folders like was mentioned, then maybe change the file format of the usb stick. you'll have to format it clean first so save your songs elsewhere to transfer back over after you change it

edit; looks like the same problem some kenwoods have, check this out: http://www.kenwoodforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=4544

Just seen your edit, that looks helpful, thanks

ntfs is the other format, but id start by using multiple folders, ive seen a few things now saying you can have a max of 256 songs per folder and 256 folders per drive - i.e. your 8gb usb stick
