Well, my XX-Hercules fried itself yesterday. I think it was defective, but just in case, im going over everything i wired and want to make sure it wasnt my fault and that the amp was acctually defective.

here is the wiring diagram i did. Wired the amp/subs up for a 1 ohm load, so check to see if this is right please:

is it okay that the positive and negative wires alternate direction like so, or do they both need to run in the same direction?

Also, i am 99.9% sure this didnt happen, but would wiring my RCA's in reverse damage anything (like if it was left and right wired up as right and left on the amp)

more power out of the amp than its supposed to? well @ 1 ohm it would have been 2000RMS, pushing two 750wrms subs, thats only 1500watts, less than its max power?

anyways no the gains werent all the way up, just up about half, and i barely got any sound before something near the RCA popped and the vent by the RCA's starting smoking

Just so you know, just b/c your subs are rated at 750W, you can put more power than that to them. That's just the sub's power rating before it blows.

i never heard of hooking rca backward frying an amp i done it on mine by accident and ran it for a couple months before removing the amp to do some changes and realized i had ti wire up wrong i had one going to input and one to output didnt effect the amp i had

As far as the sub connnections go, yes they are correct. Are you certain you hooked all the input and signal wiring correct?
what could i mess up? power and ground were right, remote wire was right, speaker wires were ran exactly like that picture above, the RCA's were where the damage was done, which doesnt make any sense to me because the only thing on that side of the amp is the RCA's themselves.

The amplifier technically "works". i can power it up and the "power" light lights up, with none of the warning lights on. When i plug the RCA in is when i start seeing smoke. Another weird thing is the hifonics logo on top, which is supposed to light up, never lit up even from the start.

the subs sounded like barely any power was hitting them, i mean like none, quieter than my old single 12" alpine type-e

Do u know what im talking about? I didnt say anything was wrong with the wiring. I asked if he set his gains right. Read before you respond?
Did u set the gains correctly? chances are like so many other people u tired to get more power out of the amp then it was suppose to put out
I did thank you very much...

But, it seemed like you jumped on that "set you gains wrong like everyone else" thing pretty fast.....

He might have, but that was very a very demeaning way to say it. I am sure you have never made a mistake with setting your car audio stuff, but some times people do...

Maybe the RCA's are bad. You can test this with your DMM. Put the selector on continuity (beeps on my Fluke). Take the red test lead, and place it on the barrel of the RCA (outside metal part). Take the black lead and place it on the center pin.

If your meter beeps or shows continuity, your RCA's are shorted out. This is unlikely, but not unknown to happen.
