Someone broke into my car and I have an alarm... Please help with suggestions!!!

Now its correct
No, he would still be in the same boat.

I really dont see how the shock sensor didnt go off, when set correctly and installed on a good spot, it will trip the alarm 9/10 times. Did they open the door or reach through the window? If they opened the door then the door trigger didnt go off either

I do see how the shock didnt go off but the door trigger was an interesting point unless the items were that easily within reach. Which is possible.

Yea, they just reached in through the window. No doors were open. I know this because my laptop bag was on the backseat and it was untouched.. lol But when I went to pick up my truck from the shop the installers tested every single door for the door pin. Also I tested out my shock sensor after my car got broken into and it was fine. Not too sensitive and not set too low. One light blow on my pillar and the alarm went off.

When I got to the the truck and saw the broken glass the first thing I did was look at my 2-way pager. I saw that there were no warning indications so I hit unlock and "beep-beep" two chirps. (Meaning the alarm didnt go off)

It was pretty much a grab and go through the window. I guess a proximity sensor it is. Im ordering one right now. Is install pretty simple or would I have to take it back to the shop? I know where the brain is installed and I have the wiring diagram.

-Thanks

It's pretty simple to install. I have a prox. sensor if you want it. I'll sell it to you for a good price. It's bnib.

To reach that far in and not bump anything in and around the console area is amazing! Did the alarm unit come with 2 remotes? and do they send out new codes every time it has been locked? Im not pointing the finger at the installer. But just seems like you should of atleast had a warning chirp if the shock sensor is set correctly...

lol, you act like a console is hard to get into without disrupting the vehicle.

Also since the truck is probably taller than the reach of the theif, im almost positive he had to step on ur sidestep and reach in, weight on sidestep = tilt of vehicle. Ger urself a tilt sensor also //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i just added the glass break sensor and proximity sensor to my viper 5900. the glass sensor you can adjust the sensitivity and i set it to go off if there is just a little tap on the windows. with the proximity its kinda hit and miss. sometimes itll chirp when your within a foot, sometimes not at all.

i still think they are worth it though, $50 on ebay for both and im confident that my car wont get broken into without me knowing

Yea he had to step on it.. The truck has an 8" lift so there is no getting in it at all without stepping on the side step.. Even if you want to peak in through the window you have to step on it. However I figured a tilt sensor wouldnt do much... correct me if Im wrong. But I figured tilt sensors are for when you lift up your car with a jack like to steal rims. Im a 200lb guy and when I step on the side step the truck doesnt really tilt.. lol Im sure it moves a little, but nothing crazy. Trucks have a pretty stiff suspension. I dont know though.. maybe it might help. How sensitive are the tilt sensors?
