Some random questions

Yet another update.

I found a few problems that it may or may not be. First - the terminal thing didnt fully seal when I ran it outside the box. When I hold my hand up to it I can definetely feel air coming out of it. Would that explain it all though?

That and the RCA's might be weird to the hu, I'll have to check that.

Edit: Checked the RCA's, even switched them from "SW" to "Rear Output" pluggy things. The only things I can think of now are the vc's somehow got ruined or the leak in the side of the box is causing that much trouble.

Bedtime bump. I still need to find out if it's possible that all the problems could be caused by the leaky terminal thing that connects the speaker wire from the inside to the outside of the box. Whatever that things called.

When I play it, I can really feel/hear the air coming out of the sides of it... It's about as pressurized as the air coming from the port.

Gosh **** im gonna punch someone.

From what I hear, most music doesn't even reach the -6db range, so I wouldn't worry about -3db, just don't play 0db tones with your gain set with -3db tone. I would check all your connections again, and all your crossover points (never hurts to quad check). Regarding your "weird noise at 20hz" bottoming out sounds like your tapping (or slamming) a plastic disk on metal. Good luck.

Ok, so I finally got time/got off my *** to do some stuff.

1. I checked the RCA's on the HU and throughout the car. No pinches or anything. They were plugged into the HU on the Subwoofer output thing.

2. I re-checked the gain. Set it at 40 volume this time... when it was set at 42, going from 42 to 40 gave the amp 10 less volts.

3. I sealed the leak around the wire terminal, I think that helped a wee bit.

4. I re-checked all the hpf's and lpf's in my car... LPF is off but HPF is still there, cuz I cant turn it off.

5. Checked the amp for like 15 minutes, nothing out of the ordinary.

I'm thinking the only problems now could be:

1. I expected too much for a single 15 on 600RMS

2. 600RMS isn't enough for the sub

3. The box is shit

4. The amp is shit (it's an infinity so idk)

5. The VC's got messed up

I'm gonna buy a DMM that can actually measure things below 1000 ohms. If that's not the problem, then the amp may be messed up. If not, I'll build a new box over the weekend if possible. I'll make sure not to split any wood this time.. that could have an effect on it too.

What do you guys think?

Is the aq just a bad driver? I mean I know the HDC3's own, but shit... Maybe it's my box. IDK.
