Solving a problem

so if i cut a peice of 4x4 wood and put a peice in each chamber how big would each peice need to be to take up .5cuf?
Algebra young Jedi:

(4 * 4 * X)/1728 = .5

Multiply both sides by 1728 and we get; 4 * 4 * X = 864

Divide each side by 4 * 4 (16), leaves us with; X = 54

Plug that into our original equation, and we get:

(4" x 4" x 54")/1728 = .5cuft

So, in each chamber you would need a total of 54" in length using 4x4s

And when you were sitting in math class, you probably thought the teacher was just spouting off useless information that you would never use again //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

thx for the info, but not a nice algebra comment, i had a shit for brains algebra 1 teacher, never made it past there. now im in collge, "look at me now"

Box Specs Again.....

Top: 13"deep by 45"accross

Front: 18"tall(slanted) by 45"accross

Box: 16"tall

Port: 4" by 12 3/4 PVC pipe

Made of 1" MDF

It is also divided into two equal chambers.

^^key word

each chamber has a port did i really need to tell ya that?

I punched your box into winISD (I am no expert with it) but it appears you are currently tuned to 29Hz and your setup is very peaky (+4db) at 50Hz with very little response below 40Hz. Making the box smaller only appears to make the situation worse. I would try stuffing the box with poly-fill and see if that helps. It will make it look like you have 3.5ft^3 per sub (40% increase in volume) and should give you a flatter response (2.75db) at 50Hz with extension down to 30Hz.

Again, I'm no expert but it'd be interesting to try.

i think its hitting a little hard for only a 29hz port, i got my other 12 in monday, and it beats so hard, it hurts, at 40!, havent even turned it to 51 yet, gonna let the woofer break in 1st

um. what?

29hz does not refer to your volume level on the HU man. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

alright, there was no end to the sentence so it looked as if you thought 29hz had to do with the HU volume. (by the way, 29hz is not the port volume, its the port tuning //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif )

periods > commas

so are you going to change the volume\tuning at all? or leave it how it is?

i want to take that .5 cuf out, but could somone reccomend the best thing, and what size to put in it to take that .5cuf out? please.

port volume, port tuning, you know what i meant.
