Nice choice btw, I love old chevy's.
yes, I'd settle for a 496, 540, 572 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

As far as the design of a square speaker goes....I dont think more cone area benefits you with the SOLO's or anything else thats not round because it cancels out...I THINK....BECAUSE think about this....if you have a round magnet moving up and down, driving the subwoofer....power isnt going to be distributed evenly through a square subwoofer, Vs. a round subwoofer because the corners of the sub arent going to see as much excusrion as the sides...ya know what im trying to say....like a ripple effect from throwing a rock in the water...its round, not square....this make sence to anyone......IM NOT SAYING THIS IS RIGHT!! just something I thought about, and logically it makes sence

more cone area does indeed benefit you...like more Sd. Now if the motor structure is done right, it can get the whole moving mass, or Sd off a sqaure woofer to it's full potential. Check and L7, check out the patent back brace, it's made to make the L7 use all the cone area as one piston...

i vote solo x. i have my 18 solo x in 5.7ft^3 tuned to 36hz with 72in^2 of port. with a rated 2800wrms (orion 2500d @ .5ohm, with box impedence rise, it was more like 1700wrms) and i did a 144.4. with a larger box and more power, i'm breakin 150 pretty easy. but my box is actually built to be musical, and it is. real nicely for what it is.

not that i'm dogging the MT, but i really like my solo x. which can be urs for $950 plus shipping as i'm ready to claim my back seat back. but no hurry, as i really like hitting so low that ppl in buildings think it's thundering outside.

btw, with enough power, they can both spit their soft parts with ease!

For the cost of a SOLO X, I can almost get two MT's (not likely). The MT is $479 + shipping and that's off of a standard pricing list. Most folks say that RE is usually cheaper when you actually call to order. My goal for this 18" driver is to do 157-158 Db on the Audiocontrol Mics (that's all we have around here). The box is going to be 10 cubic ft net with 200 square in. of port tuned to like 41-42 Hz. I have found my resonant frequency to be 47 Hz and JMAC told me to tune to 41 Hz in order for the enclosure to peak at 47 Hz.
