Soliciting Equipment Advice

Passive...using the supplied non electronic crossovers with the component set. In other words a preset by the manufacturer crossover that goes within the path of the drivers.
Ah, thanks. I think what I will be doing for the front is using the high/low pass on the amp. Unless that is a stupid n00b thing to do.... In which case I never even considered doing it...

I dont usually blow smoke up anyone's ***, but that's awfully ****ing cool of you to read, research, and recommend so much info.

From now on I'll agree with you even when you're wrong:laugh:

I also would head to the school of Eclipse for the AVN series of head unit. In our area Sirius is far ahead of XM, thus we sell the SIR-ECL1 sirius unit steadily. I like the new generation of ICEpower class D amplifiers, can't go wrong there. Speaker wise, consider Morel speakers, Eclipse beleive it or not, Macrom and yes, given the fact that you have a convertable and the first sound you lose at speed is top end, look to the MB Quarts. The trunk space in that you have available is far from huge. Consider a couple of 10's that can fit into either a fair size sealed or ported enclosure. The DD2510's would work for this and of course the Eclipse aluminum cone series as well. Either choice will not dissappoint.

I also happen to agree with the support the local dealer avenue. Seems that some of the suggestions on the system have come from dealers with no vested interest in the system. Too bad good dealers are so few and far between.

i have a pair of 2510s ported with a zapco reference dc 1100.1. best sql woofer/amp/box setup i have ever had.

But it feels so good!
I just love the sound of their speakers. That's what I happen to own, and that's what I happen to enjoy. So, I'll keep recommending them.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

its almost as they expect you to recommend things that you dont know about or have experience with. if mbquarts are what you like and you feel they are worth mentioning, then thats 100% valid. rock on. oh yea, zapco ftmfw!

And, due in no small part to his recommendation, I have added them to my listening list, the QSC 216 if I recall correctly.

Lemme tell you, compling a listening list when you are 45 minutes away from the nearest decent sound board is quite a feat. I even called ahead to shops to inquire what they have in their boards. I am planning an all day excursion tommorow to listen to:

MB Quart,

Boston,

Morel,

Diamond

and, if I happen upon them, the Alpine SPXs just because.

Got my test disc and a few of my faves from each genre lined up. I figure mid-day on a week day, I may get away with taking over their board for a spell.

But man, I can't thank the contributors here enough. I have opened my eyes to some different stuff and am still researching (always a good thing) rather than just jumping off.
