Soldering speaker wire

I am looking at soldering speaker wire and speaker terminals. Are there any special steps I must take when soldering speaker wire? I have soldered electronics before but this is the first time with speaker wire.

i wouldnt solder the wire directly to the terminals. if they are the male terminal disconnects, then just get yourself a female disconnect, and solder the wire in there. looks much cleaner.

i solder to terminals.

they are hidden inside a door and dont need to be pretty.

make sure you dont drop any solder on the surround/cone

These darn Focals/CDT speakers all have such odd sized male speaker connects, I wasnt happy with any of the female connects I was finding.

So no no on solder....
