jchoe here is what you do son..

you need what is called a sauder sucker. basicly when you heat up the old sauder it get's all shinny and runny. the sauder sucker will **** that off of the board.

i think you can buy them at radio shack.. maybe i dunno

then once you get the board on witch you are trying to sauder this new wire onto all nice and clean and free of sauder, you will want to insert the wire into the hole on the board, then heat up the wire and the board to the point where the sauder is pretty mutch just melting onto the wire, not onto the tip of the saudering iron.

and that will stick to the board.

It's called a solder wick. Its a braided piece of metal that absorbs the solder.

Like stated before, you need to clean the surface pad with either solder wick or a solder sucker. Also, when re-installing the component make sure you are supplying enough heat to the pad and component. It sound like you are making a cold solder joint which is why it is very weak and not joining properly. You can also use flux when applying the iron and solder. Flux comes in a liquid or paste form, both work very well, especially with smaller components. Having the right size iron tip will also make a huge difference when soldering as well.
