So..My wife was diagnosed with Huntingtons disease yesterday.

All I can tell you is don't lose the spirit man. I work in a hospital and see all sorts of people with all sorts of problems all day long. The people who keep a good outlook on things always do the best.

My best wishes to you and your family, stay strong and don't let it completely dominate your life.

positive thoughts cure bro. i promise you that. have you ever seen a miserable person survive a life threatening disease? I haven't. The strong and willing are usually the ones that pull through. They say laughing is the cure to all sicknesses, and I truly believe that. It may not cure it, itself, but the psychological things that come out of being in a good mood, being positive, being happy, and being greatful...I swear to you they help all the treatment that you go through with any sickness.

just stay up bro, things will go as they should whichever road that may be. as you said, she is no different than she was yesterday, or 20 years ago for that matter. She is the same person, with a piece of paper and some test results saying she is sick. if a piece of paper can determine your life outcome....something is wrong. as prowler said, recognize what you have, not what you MIGHT lose. if things turn for the worst, it was meant to be. theres not much that can be done except realize that she is in a better place (whichever that may be for you).

medicine can only do so much, its the love, the happiness, the family memories, and the determinationg that does the hard part.

I'm sorry to hear this, but she had it before so nothings changed. This is just a diagnosis. You shouldn't let it rest in the back of your mind. Just worry about the quality of life and make the absolute best of it. A lot of the times with things like these its mind over matter. The mind is a very powerful thing and can help the body heal itself. Call it faith, spiritual healing, whatever you want. Keep your chin up. So many people have it so much worse. It sounds like you've got a family that you're very proud of. Thats a lot more than most. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

She's going in for a retest today, but I doubt it'll change things.

Info for you all not in the know. Keep in mind its hereditary, so both my daughters could have it as well.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I'm very sorry to hear this.

I have done research on HD and worked with patients in a rehabilitation setting, so I am quite familiar with the surrounding issues.

Keep your head high and focus on today/the present. The future holds whatever it holds, but you're not there yet - one day at a time.

Thanks again everyone. We are coping with it bit by bit. CQ10 is a drug that has been showing some signs of promise in studies, so we are going to start looking into bulk purchases of it if we can't get into the study for it. It's frightening, but I think my wife is handling the situation pretty well. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
