So, My girlfriend wants me to go to the gym with her

if he grew vertically, it wouldnt all be muscle //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
true. i can't say anything on that. he would have had to have a body fat and muscle density test both before and after BT to determine if he truely gained all muscle weight and didn't gain or lose body fat

i've had kids end the wrestling season and gain 2 inches in height but gain almost 40 pounds over one summer. but these are also kids in the low to mid teens so their GH and testosterone levels are off the charts and throw in a growth spur.

I work out 3 days per week for an hour. It doesn't do anything. I started at 180, I'm still 180ish. I am not faster, stronger, etc than when I started. It does get me out of the office for an hour.

well if u have never lifted or done extreme shit to your body, im sure the first change will add on a decent amount of muscle, and loss of bodyfat, but once u have passed this virgin state of lifting wouldnt it be around the range of like 5-10lbs of muscle per year?
you don't gain muscle just b/c you workout. one of the coachs that I work with works out 4 times a week and he's been around the 145 mark for the last 4 years and he's in his early 20s. you have to change what you eat and vary your workouts periodically b/c like your brain, your muscles get board with the same routine.

thats because exercise is only 10% //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

so eat less food at each meal, but eat 5 times a day. that will get your metabolism moving, and of course...work out. do an hour+ of lifting on a 5 day split and do cardio (low intensity for 30 minutes or more on a variety of machines), eat lots of protein (1g per gram of lean body mass) and you have no reason not to lose weight. but EAT. and that means eat 2000 calories. at your weight (you didnt argue with the number i said so i take it i was roughly correct) if you go to 1600-1800 your not going to last. your body needs more than 12-1600.
you can change your metabolism, so thats not an excuse to eat less. chicken, broccolli, cottage cheese, natural peanut butter, whey protein, steak, pork chops, green beans, cashews, almonds, eggs, turkey bacon.........that all should be somewhere in your diet at one point or another. tuna, salmon, talapia....
My diet now includes: Tuna/ Salmon, water (2 liters a day sometimes 3), I LOVE salads so thats a staple, Veggie burgers, i love eggs, I hate Cottage Cheese so i do Ricotta, yogurt cause of the calcium, I eat prolly 2-3 apples or pears a day, wheat bread or pita bread sometimes, TONS of veggies. My major fall is Pasta.... I def eat more then the 2oz serving. ive cut back on that, so i should see something happen soon. Oh and i get no less then 20g Fiber a day, and i get a good about of protein, prolly not 150g but a good 90-100g. Ill just grub on more tuna and such for that.

And btw you were kinda close to my weight. its 180 .. not worried about it tho, luckily i dont show it as bad as some.

I am thinking it is because I need more days. I work out M, W, F. After sat, sun roll around I feel like I am starting all over again on the following Monday.

But I don't eat fast food or drink cokes. I do drink sweet tea. Breakfast is 2 eggs, 2 bacon and a wheat toast. Tonight's dinner is steak and scalloped potatoes and collard greens.

i go on the treadmill for an hour and then I lift as long as I can. I also take Creatine. Seems to be working. I havent really lost any weight but my gut is going away and my arms and chest are bigger
You know what else is getting bigger...?

Your self-esteem. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

Sadly, your wiener can't get bigger.

your probably eating at maintanence then. if your serious about losing, go to bb.com and start looking around.

you just need a more intense workout and more muscle fuel (calories and protien) you should try adding a protein supplement and 2 more meals. i'd scratch the sweet tea b/c it's a diaretic drink so it actually dehydrates your body more than hydrating it. you should add another egg and 1/2 a cup of oatmeal for that breakfast.

try some red meat for protein...

and how much are you eating of things, serving size is huge in figuring things out. if you two are serious about this do as i mentioned above and hit up bb.com and start looking around/asking questions.

nono i mean like once your past your growing age, like 22 or whatever it is, and you have been weight training for say 1-2 years, what would be the max area of muscle able to be added per year?

see all kida from 16-22 or something will get bigger muscles as they grow, its just the way shit goes, but after you stop growing theres no boost for u to get a lot of muscle mass,

I don't want to lose weight. I like my body size now. I want...let's see how to explain....if you push on my arm it would be firm, not soft...same for the other muscles. I don't care if I weigh more if my makes my muscles more firm, not muscle and then flab.

agreed. breakfast calories are a wonderful wonderful thing. if you dont want another egg, get some liquid egg white. and if you cant go without sweet tea....grab those little packs you dump into water and it flavors it. those dont have the additives (chemical) that pure sugar substitutes have (like the packets at the restaurant) so your body can actually digest them. its like crystal light stuff.

I don't eat when I am not hungry. If I am bored, I may eat an apple or occasional ice cream.
