So, My girlfriend wants me to go to the gym with her

there are alot more variables than that. your plan would work for me, mostly because i have a fairly active job. if you have a less active job, and only burn 750 calories per day, then a 1500 calorie per day diet doesn't do very much.
theres really not. your not ONLY going to burn 750 calories a day. calculate your BMR and then figure out what your maintanence level of calories is....mine is like 4000 cals, im a big dude. i cant come near to eating 3500, so i stick to 2500 right now. it's working.

plain and simple everything you do burns calories.....even sitting on the couch and sleeping. desk jobs involve typing, that on top of your normal body functions are burning calories. it's a basic concept. take in less than you burn, and your body starts using your fat for other things.......energy. therefore you lose that weight.

You were working out like crazy, someone who is jogging 2 miles a day would not see the same results. Eating better is by the the most productive way to lose weight but then you end up skinny fat and your insides are still unhealthy.
unhealthy, but far better of than you were. skinny fat is a clue to you needing to bulk. it's time //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

There are all kinds of skinny guys having hearts attacks at 50 years old because of this the combination is the best thing you can do to have good overall results and not just dropping the # on the scale.

yes.

sitting on the couch all day not moving burns more than 750 calories in a day iirc, the average person will actually burn a good chunk of that "2000 calorie a day" guidline without doing much more than our normal routines

a generalization that works...for everyone. if you eat UNDER maintanence, you take in less calories. if you take in 3500 less calories (1 pound of fat= 3500 cals) in a week, you lose 1 pound. Unless you have water weight....which can be rid of easily. That's a 500 a day deficit. Of course your new diet (500 deficit) has to come from healthy food and not just one less big mac a day.
Lets not foget that not all weight that is lost is fat...especially when you are inactive, if you under-eat your body will tend to eat its muscle before it taps into its fat reserves. The actual ratio at which your body will naturally burn fat vs muscle at depends on your body fat percentage. People who are obese may lost 85% fat for every pound they lose, while someone trying to cut a six pack may only lose 25% fat for every pound they lose, thus the need for more than just sitting around eating less (ie. maintaining those muscles through exercise to avoid the loss of muscle and promote the loss of fat)

i wasted 2 years doing this. i lost more weight in 2 months lifting weights, than i lost in 2 years watching calories. if your metabolism is already low, as it is in most out of shape people, simply eating less food doesn't raise metabolism.

eating less, more often does //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif along side a work out plan.

i never once said dont work out. I said do it correctly. you dont need a full gym, you need a couch for dips, dumb bells for shrugs, calf raises, presses, curls, squats, whatever you can use them for. and doing the correct length/style of cardio. but food = 90% of weight loss, exercise = 10%..........gotta have both to get to 100....

and i like the idea of losing weight/gaining muscle etc. But im not into all the muscle sauce/juice shit and all that. Were both a little overweight and lazy as hell also id like to add. Im looking at maybe like 50-60$ a month to go do it so id like to know what all i need to do to actually make it work. Id like to lose my man tits and maybe make my arms a little bigger and thats it. I also have back pains alot so im told i can work out my back muscles to help with that? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif Does anyone else here workout at all? Im really just wondering about what kinda work its gonna take to get what i want, and any tips you guys have. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

lol

Bleh, I am going to start working out again. Hurt my back and knee in October after some hurricane Gustav cleanup at my house and had to stop lifting. It sucks to have to regain the muscle you lost //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Metabolism is an odd thing. It works opposite of what a lot of people think maybe. Like how sled dogs run 50 miles a day on one chunk of fish and seem pretty dang healthy. I eat once a day usually one plate of food is all and i stay the same. 185-190 pounds.

that's what i wanted to hear. i spent some years in prison, so i know all about calisthenic excercises.

lol and your not tired, hurt, or pissed at all times? how much do you actually eat? anything UNDER 1200 is not going to help you, but hurt you over time.

how do i do this.

btw i can agree with saywhat?. i lost 60lbs (ok, it was 58, close enough and makes me feel better) by stuffing less food into my face. never even went to the gym once...

but this just happened. id like to know some of the science behind the idea though.
