So, My girlfriend wants me to go to the gym with her

and i like the idea of losing weight/gaining muscle etc. But im not into all the muscle sauce/juice shit and all that. Were both a little overweight and lazy as hell also id like to add. Im looking at maybe like 50-60$ a month to go do it so id like to know what all i need to do to actually make it work. Id like to lose my man tits and maybe make my arms a little bigger and thats it. I also have back pains alot so im told i can work out my back muscles to help with that? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif Does anyone else here workout at all? Im really just wondering about what kinda work its gonna take to get what i want, and any tips you guys have. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

you would be amazed, after i work out, i feel great and it gives me energy for the rest of the day. You dont have to bench 400 or anything like that, just as long as you work up a good sweat and get your heart pumping and you lungs moving your good. People mistake that the only way to get bigger is doing tons of weight which does make you bigger but i prefer more reps over more weight

Changing your diet will be your deciding factor, obviously something made you overweight in the first place.... If you work out, yet still eat shitty food (even once a day) you wont see results.

If you change your diet, and work out semi regularly, you see results fast.

I see alot of ppl since I work at the gym part time, and the people that DONT come back, are the people that come in and work the crap out of themselves, 5 mile runs etc, because they arent having fun, they do it for a week, and they never come back

Make the gym FUN, most gyms offer classes like taebo, anything that gets you sweating and your heartrae up. Just have fun

A pool is also a really good workout tool, everybody loves swimming, and its an excellent workout if you do laps

i go on the treadmill for an hour and then I lift as long as I can. I also take Creatine. Seems to be working. I havent really lost any weight but my gut is going away and my arms and chest are bigger

ding! imagine that, eating right keeps you healthy. eat 500-1000 under maintanance and you lose 1-2 pounds per week. anything over that (drastically) will result in skin sagging and just plain being unhealthy. your first couple weeks you may lose 4-5 pounds but it's water weight. once the excess is out youll be dropping ~2 lbs a week safely and healthy.

try doing cardio AFTER your work out. or do 10 minutes pre, 50 minutes post. by working out you depleat your glycogen levels, and when you start up the cardio session you are burning fat quicker.

diet = 90% of weight loss. exercise = 10%

you lose weight by eating in a calorie deficit.

not that hard. stop shoving food down your throat.
that's a generalization. some people's metabolism is so low, that calorie cutting isn't enough. you can't expect to sit on the couch eating carrots, and still lose weight. and it also isn't all about just losing weight. people with 0 muscle tone, don't tend to look very good even if they are skinny.

a generalization that works...for everyone. if you eat UNDER maintanence, you take in less calories. if you take in 3500 less calories (1 pound of fat= 3500 cals) in a week, you lose 1 pound. Unless you have water weight....which can be rid of easily. That's a 500 a day deficit. Of course your new diet (500 deficit) has to come from healthy food and not just one less big mac a day.

think about it...if your metabolism is low, you have a maintanence level with your said metabolism. you eat less calories, healthier foods, 5 small meals a day, your metabolism will raise itself and you will in turn lose weight. no lie.

So, OP...if you want to lose weight, get some dumb bells or kettle bells, start eating better and work out at home. Save you money, get some protein powder, and have a nice little shake after your work out. You will gain your "noob" muscles, and start losing weight in a healthy manner. It's a very dificult task to gain muscle AND lose weight at the same time. You either cut (lose weight), or bulk (build muscle).

there are alot more variables than that. your plan would work for me, mostly because i have a fairly active job. if you have a less active job, and only burn 750 calories per day, then a 1500 calorie per day diet doesn't do very much.

I'm no work out expert.Basically because I don't do it. I get mine at work.

But I think that diet is only 10%, exercise 90%. When I went through basic training we ate as much as we wanted 3 times a day of stuff like burgers, pizza, all that stuff. The skinny guys gained muscle mass the fat guys lost a lot.

I gained 25-30 pounds of muscle by the time I got out of basic. Exercise half an hour in the morning, Then run a half hour. Then we did various things during the day. Obstacle courses and what have you.

your active as hell, you can eat whatever the hell you want your still burning more than you take in. its amazing, burn more than you eat you lose weight. skinny guys eat that much, and their body uses the excess for muscle
