read that. Clearly states 500 watts RMS.

Better yet, call alpine and tell them to honor the warranty, but mention that you gave the sub 1200 watts. When they tell you go to ********* yourself, tell them there was no distortion or clipping, and that the people in the car forum told you that you could give it 1200 watts.

Textbook user error. You abuse equipment not designed to do what you're doing with it, and then come in here and try to seem like the tough guy who can see through the internet hype, and therefore are better than the people who believe it.

i had a bad experience with them because they blew off pretty much rated power

don't even try to start on the user error thing now, everything was installed correctly, the type r just can't handle the power

the 12" type r was getting probably around 1200 watts from a bd1500.

Crutchfield: ">>power handling: 200-500 watts RMS"

yo that waht i B try N to tel yous, the type r aint that good yo, my 4 15" lanzars specials take 4000 watt all day evrryday yo. they a bettr deal than alpine tooo. i got all 4 fo $100. and tehy nevr let me down yo hear what i b sayin *****. ma lanzar 6x9's are taking mo than 80 watt too, so yo alpine **** dawg

I'm sure it was, but most "i wanna get loud" 17 year olds dont know what distortion sounds like. I had a friend running a pair of old MTXs off a way too powerfull amp, I kept telling him they were distorting and that he would probably blow them.. he was convinced thats how subs are supposed to sound. A week later he blew both of them.
