I wish i could walk into a store and hop in a car and listen to some subs before i buy. I Know Want alpine but i cannot choose between the type R's or The Type X's. Also i do not know the diff. between 10 inch subwoofers and 12 inch subwoofers. I need help

I can tell you that the difference is quite a bit of money and 2" of cone area. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif How do you know you want an Alpine if you've never auditioned one?

Or should i leave alpine and go to Kicker? So now i have Kicker Solarboric or Kicker CompVr Or Alpine Type R or Alpine Type X to choose from....

I know but what does that 2 inches of extra cone Actually improve? And i want alpine because ive heard they have good sound quality and hit descent. But i also heard Kicker makes a good subwoofer too.

Now you are thinking, that is good. What is your budget? How do you intend to install the sub? What is the rest of your system like? What are your goals as far as SPL goes? How much power do you have available for it? Answer those questions and you will narrow down your choices...or should I say broaden your choices. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

So do 100 other sub manufacturers //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Buy subs based on your specific needs, not on the marketing crap the company puts out.

Ok. U want ALL the details....lol. Well i have 500 $ to blow probably and i have nothing but an alpine cd player and a 1997 honda civic. I need Subs and an amp and a box. Money really isnt a problem but i dont want to spend 200$ on a sub. Ill probably use ebay. I want a sub that Has Good quality. I also would want it to thump, Nothing raticle but i want to feel the bass. As far as SPL i dont really know what that is. And the installation i will probably get help from someone...maybe on here or at a store or my friends could probably help although i dont trust they have the greatest knowledge

Ok, well...

Sub: $150

Box: $75 (prefab), $35 you make your own

Amp: $100-$200 depending on how much power you decide to run.

Install kit: $40 for a cheap 4 gauge one on ebay

My suggestion would be to watch the Classifeds section. Many times guys will sell all their equipment at once. You can get a sub, box, amp and piece the rest together a sub set up for much cheaper than you could with the time and money spent finding the equipment seperately. Either that or buy a preloaded sub in an enclosure off a good seller on ebay. Then get yourself an amp and the wiring an be done with it.

lol, that's wrong.

A=Pi(r^2)

10" = 78.539

12" = 113.097

Don't confuse the guy with your fancy equations now. He got the point I think. Thanks for the correction Einstein. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif
