So Many Choices!!!

I know it isn't in your list or if you are shopping only at BB but there are a couple of new in box Clarion DXZ845MC units on Ebay for 150.00. They are black and have a few shades of green to choose from.

nonono... im not buying from bestbay.. hell no.. rip offff... i just use best buy to 'test' their products.. if u know what i mean //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

i will be doing my final purchease on ebay!

now i was wondering one thig...right now.. im really liking the excelon X889, but wanted to see what its like and everything before i buy it off ebay.. BB has a similar looking unit to it KDC-MP728, its not an excelon and everything, but if i go into bestbuy and test that, would i get a good idea of how the X889 is like, such as the screen, user interface.. functionality?

im asking because i dont want to go into best buy, thinking they are almost the same and finding the KDC-MP728 total trash, an get scared in gettin the X889 thinking theyre the same, but i would still like to 'touch' something like the X889 before i buy it.. u guys know what i mean?

get the excelon... looks better //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

yes... i want the excelon, but i want to see what it looks like in person first, would the simple model i find in bestbuy be a good comparison?

what are the differences in both anyways?

and i don't want an eclipse because of theft issues with no removable faceplate..

The Eclipse is theft coded witha key cd chosen by you, so you don't have to remove the faceplate because if it's jacked it's still useless to a thief. Besides, most people are too lazy to remove the face anyway, or when they do they put it in it's case and the case in the glove box, so how secure is it? I have an 860mp, and do like it, but that being said, it is going away in favor of an Alpine, or Eclipse in the next 2 months because I want better SQ and just refuse to fork out the cash for a Nakamichi. I would HIGHLY recomend an Eclipse, but honestly I would wait a couple months regardless because SEMA is in January, and all the manufacturers will have thier new units, and that means there may be a new unit that kicks *** that you haven't seen yet, or you can get an awesome price break on last years "old stock" Anyway, you should definetley consider Eclipse, they are some of the best units out there.

well, i know thar it has that security, but theives dont, to tell u the truth, i, most of the times, dot take the face plate with me, just put it in the back passenger seat pocket or glove box, but it still discourages a theif from breaking in... and plus the college im going to has a high car theft rate, ppl get their shit stolen everyday, whole cars get stolen too!

anyway, i might wait till january and see whats happening

I wouldn't necessrily say Alpine has any better SQ than Pioneer. I will agree they do have a different sound but whether that is better or not is up to the individual's ears. And NO you don't have to go with a Nak to achieve good SQ. We all know you have to get the MAGIC rca cables for that. LOL. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif Seriously though I've been using Pioneer decks for quite a while with a few experimentations with other brands including Alpine, Eclipse and JVC but I've always come back to Pioneer because I've always liked their sound. My 860 will stay in my current vehicle til the car dies. My P9 combo is going to go into my new car once I have a new car. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif :yumyum:

I'm satisfied with my 860, but not thrilled with it. The controls are funky. It has a phantom eq curve (smiley faced when set to flat, and changes with volume) and the most irritating feature ever- having to push 3 GODDAMN BUTTONS TO FREEKING PAUSE! I do think Eclipse decks (the high end ones) have better sq w/ 8volt preouts, better d/a converters but do not like the "Vegas by night" display, but I don't like the one in my pioneer much either, I was just hoping it to be bright enough to see in sunlight in my car, which it isn't. I am going to try a differnt eq in my car rather than the built in one to see if that helps my sq at all. Honestly, I have a guy that can do an ipod interface with the cd changer controls on my factory radio, and possibly line in my XM, so I may even go back to the factory HU. The 860 is a good HU, but I liked the Alpine 7998 better. I may even thieve it back from my parents and put the 860 in thier van.I love Nak stuff, and the ones with the high end D/A converters are super cool, but they are massively overpriced. Havent ever seen or heard a p9

Well, any curve will change with volume if I'm not mistaken. What changes a curve with volume is the speakers changing with more power being given to them. That is NOT the fault of the EQ. And I'm not saying the EQ on the 860 is perfect because it is FARRRRRR from it. I personally use a PPI DEQ-230 for my car and it indeed improved the sound immensely.

As far as pausing the CD is concerned. I have to only hit 1 button to pause my 860. You are doing something wrong. The button labeled "PGM" will pause the cd instantlty with 1 touch and resume with another touch. Check it out tomorrow. I know that the PGM button can be programmed to 1 of a few things so you may have to find out how to program yours to do that. And by the way this is NOT a new feature on Pioneer decks. My old 920 had the same thing on it.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
