smell from sub?

yes this is a 2 dual ohm woofer and I thought it was a dual 4 ohm so I have it running at 1 ohm now when I thought I had it running a 2 ohms.

no I have not read it I didnt even know it was there. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. If you have any other tutorials that will help me out with anything let me know I am more than willing to learn.

Basically you want to set your gain so you have a particular voltage that corresponds to the wattage and impedance you are wanting to run...

That way you don't clip or blow anything up... Unless an extreme case happens...

Ok, that's all I was saying. If it is dual 2ohm.... which you say it is, you can only wire it to 1 or 4ohm. If it was wired to 1ohm with improper gain settings, you could have blown the sub. It would smell, then smell worse, then REALLY smell, then you would see smoke and it would be ALL over...

ok, whats the specs of the subs amp? what VC is it? D2,D4? you need to set you gains with a meter not just turn it up to 3/4. is the bass boost on? theres a amp setting thing on this forum.

also, if i remember correctly different boxes effect the rms handling of subs. you need to figure that out as well.

amp is 2500d so 2500rms@1ohm

sub is DVc 2

he said no bass boost

and that box is on the larger side

ok, 1 or 4 ohms is your options. is your amp stable at 1 ohm? your gonna have to run at 4 ohms. wire your VC in series to get a 4 ohm load. you need to look up and, see what rms your sub handles at a 4 ohm load then do the math.

sqrt(power x resistance(ohms) ).

remember do the stuff in the parenthasees(sp).

Typo. I'm sure he meant to say amplifier. You are correct.

lol just makeing sure since I have been making these mistakes lately. I assumed it was a typo but just wanted to verify. And some people are saying the enclosure is kinda big but thats what this woofer calls for for airspace.
