SQ Setup in M3

What would you guys recommend for an SQ setup in a BMW M3 ? I was thinking maybe 1 FiQ12 ? Or maybe an Infinity Kappa... or would 2 10's be better ? I want really good SQ if it gets loud that's a plus.

Before anyone says anything, no I didn't search. This connection is to slow to load all of these pages. Thanks.

Rainbow for SQ and they are made in Germany. The Diyama sub is suppsoed to be really good SQ. I like the ARC also, I am a little biased though. JL and PG makes some great subs also.

The Phoenix Gold RSD will own all subs previously listed in terms of SQ for price tag of lower than $100. Can't comment on the Rainbow subs though. Never heard them.

image dynamic IDQ i have a 15" and it get loud and sounds good sealed would probably be louder ported, but the SQ is amazing highly recomend it. Also, rainbow components would sound good. If you want to spend a lot more money look at the IDMAX

What do you all think about Adire Brahma or Orion H2 ? I understand they get plenty loud too.

IDMAX sounds really good. But its expensive as hell. The RSD is known to have a very similar sound and like stated earlier, its less than $100.

The review in the link has a shootout between the RSD and a few other SQ subs like the W6v2 and the IDMAX. The RSD scores the highest. Its a nice reference if you dont have anywhere to test all of these subs out.

Do you have a budget of any kind? How much trunk are you willing to give up? What does your front stage consist of? What kind of music do you primarily listen to?

I had an SI Mag D2 12" in a sealed box down in the tire well of my previous car, a 325i, and it slammed hard with exceptional SQ. The 12" version of the Mag has very low stock but if you are interested I can make sure that you get one as SI is nearby.

My next pick from the subs mentioned would probably be the FI Q. You need something with a solid x-max as you pretty much NEED high output to get much of any output in your cabin.

No matter what you get I have some tips:

First thing you need to do is remove the rear speakers and some of the factory rear-deck mass deadening to let some more sound into the cabin. BMW deadens these things like you wouldn't believe! The cosmetic portion of the rear deck may need some work to keep it from rattling as well -- I stuffed soft foam behind it to press it firmly against the bolts so the plastic around the bolts didn't rattle.

Also, if you do not have the optional "ski hole" fold down middle seat thing... you should punch out the metal in that spot to let more bass into the cabin as well. It is perforated from the factory so you can get it out with a hammer and a big screw driver. Without those mods almost anything will be quiet in your cabin due to the exceptionally well deadened interior of a BMW.

^^^^What he said, for starters. Which is also all the more reason for a killer front stage that can play LOW. Get your front stage down to the 50Hz range comfortably and you won't need too much from the sub. Also don't rule out small subs, either free air or in small enclosures where the rear speakers were or a bandpass setup venting through the ski-pass or the rear speaker cutouts.
