Smart Phones - AT&T Network

I have been looking to get a smart phone or at least a touch screen on the AT&T network. I am not sure what to get.
I would like to get a phone that is a touch screen, has wi-fi, and is a full touch screen (not a slide out or a phone that has a hardware keypad of any kind).

I have limited it down to this:

Apple Iphone

LG Incite

Samsung Eternity

I think the Iphone is kick ***, but I do not want to have the dataplan (which is required for the entire time you have the iphone). That is why I want wi-fi capability for internet, so I dont have to get the data plan. Phonescoop ratings for the Iphone 3G are 3.81/5. So the iphone is out of the question

The LG Incite has everything I want, including wifi, and does not require a data plan. I like the idea that it has an FM Tuner, but that is not really that important to me.The reviews on this phone are not as good as others, still phonescoop.com ratings are 3.25/5.

Then, I came across the Samsung Eternity. It is not really a smart phone, it does not have wifi, but does seem to have everything else, except an FM tuner. It does not require a data plan. It seems to be sturdy and pretty good, just not wifi! Phonescoop.com ratings are 4.18/5. I have personally played with the Eternity at a dealer and liked it all except it's lack of wifi.

What should I go with? Wifi Would be fucking awesome, but do I spend more money on a phone that is not not as good of quality overall, just to have wifi, or do I get the better phone by ratings and sacrifice the wifi function?
Nokia 5800....

comes with wifi, FM tuner, 3.2 inch touchscreen, you don't have to pay that huge contract but it is 3.5G and can do the internetz and all that good stuff.

Plays mp3's, aac's, all that fun stuff.

It's unlocked...but hey, you don't have to get locked down for 2 years. Plus any plan will work.

Nokia Maps is pretty nice too.

And, yes, I have one.

i have the eternity, and it bugs the f outta me texting. i dont have overly large fingers but when i am trying to text i always seem to hit the backspace button as much as the others because i am constantly hitting the key next to the one i am trying to use. i have a htc tilt and besides the size/weight of it, it is badass

just get an HTC Touch Pro 2 when it comes out. Trust me... a hardware keyboard is MUCH better than just a touch screen keyboard. The only TS keyboard i've liked is the iphones, i have an ipod touch and i do instant messaging with it on wifi. But be aware, im not sure if u can do landscape keyboard on the iphone while txting. I've only been able to do landscape keyboard with meebo, or in the internet.

^how much they cost?
The Nokia 5800 looks to be around $350-400 depending on where you buy.

Yeah, I defiantly now see the advantages to a hardware key pad. When the HTC Touch Pro comes out maybe the HTC Fuze price will drop. When is the Touch Pro 2 supposed to be released?

The thing I am liking most about the HTC Fuze is that it runs Windows Mobile. Reading on forums, xda has released new firmware and you can also get driver updates to make it much more reliable. Windows mobile also has a LOT of expansion capabilities for apps and games, among other things. I guess I will save a little money and get me an HTC Fuze. I am really digging the layout of the keypad too, looks more like a keyboard.

i got a blackberry curve 8900 for $149 after mail in rebate the other day. its ****ing amazing. and it doesnt require a data plan but if you opt to not get the data plan then you dont get your mail in rebate.

edit- and it also has wi-fi.

^^ This man speaks the truth. I had a Samsung Omnia recently. I can safely say that having a haptic, touch screen interface absolutely blows. If I had the money I would snap up the HTC Touch pro with the slide out keyboard in a heartbeat. It is TREMENDOUSLY easier to use than a touchscreen! FYI, currently using a Samsung i760 for the keyboard it has, and that it was mad cheap.
