Finishing up the amp rack and installing the heat shield fabric under the rack (muffler is right under this spare tire compartment). Stock speaker covers will not work, so that’s a project to tackle a little later. The little aluminum bars should keep my feet from killing them for awhile. The Sony media receiver isn’t bad. EQ looks horrible but it works well (10 band). The little volt meter in it is neato.
Installed the CDT 6x9 midbass speakers to pair with the Dayton tweeters. They made a big difference. Nice sounding speakers. Met a guy who liked my box, so I traded it for a new optima red top battery and built another box for the Dayton reference 10 inch today. Didn’t really have power problems that needed another battery, but I have extra wood so I figured Id make the trade and add a battery anyway. Scraped up enough stuff to hook up the battery, but I’m short one fuse for the power wire. Only fused on 1 end at the front battery at the moment…..taking it to the danger zone. Ordered the fuse from sonic electronics today.
Got a cheap Skar amp to replace this dangerous Timpano amplifier with no over current protection. I will try a Skar product and check it out for awhile. I will be pushing it as hard as it can go. Had to build a different amp rack as the skar is double the size of the Timpano car fire 1400.
