Slim Amps = *** /// Helix

Manville Smith from JL Audio mentions them in this post.

50% better thermal dissipation is the major performance improvement (thanks to a monolithic cast sink structure and a new clamping system for the FETs). There are a few feature changes on the 250/1 and the five channel will be symmetrical power to the front and rear. The chassis also features stacking capability with an optional hardware kit. Cleaner cosmetics are nice, too.
We didn't mess with what works, but we did make a lot small improvements to improve reliability, EMI emissions and other electrical things.

Late this year/early next year you will see the HD amplifiers which are totally new from the ground up and will be positioned above Slash v2.

found em.

I have one of the Helix Dark Blue amps. FUGLY as could be, but it's one of the few current amps that will let you BP the mids to run active.

It hides under the front seat so it can't be seen. LOL Very nice amp and benched around

92watts per channel I believe. Has gone into protect one time after almost 2 hours of full volume on a 95degree day. Helix makes very nice stuff IMO...

It's not real thin. Same models, specs, size and features as the PDX amps.
That kind of amp has been popular, i'm guessing the inventor leased out the patent to more than just Alpine. Perhaps i should've waited and watch the price on that PDX drop

Hella expensive for a 4x40 watt amp.
meh, i got a good deal on it. Mayb i'll take pix of mine when my camera isn't acting like a bish //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

its smaller than the alpines.
still looks thick to me tho, or at least far from slim. FWIW, they probably use the same tech as the Alpine (read above)

Both the PDX and the JLs use full range Class D topology and make the same power regardless of load. They have the same basic chassis layout and same stackable chassis design. Coincidence? I don't believe in it.

its smaller than the alpines.
The Alpines have extra trim outside the mounting points. Basically cosmetic shrouds that cover the cooling fins. The JLs don't. There's the size difference.
