so today my friend took out his hu to hook up a new hu that ended up not working and he put his old hu back in. so now his subs sound like poo and theres vocals coming from it. he also has a button on the deck that turns the subs off, but now when he presses it off, they stay on. obviously the issue is in the head unit, but what could it be? i was told its almost 100% the rcas are not in the sub preouts but in the rca spot causing this issue to happen because there not getting full range. this true?

I wasn't trying to imply you were lying, I just couldn't remember if you said you did it or he did (and didn't want to re-read it).

Pull it out and check the connections...sounds like he mixed up the rca's, if he turns the sub output off and the subs keep playing...
