Single capable amp needed to push 2 12" bone crushers.

Not anymore... the subs can be mounted after you get the box in the car... subs up/port back remember?..
Had to do the same. Imagine a 75 lb. box then add 100 pounds worth of subs. ..that's a lot of weight.

What is the appropriate dowel thickness?

How many kilos do each of your Bonecrushers weigh?.. the box without the subs will be considerably lighter... and if you use Birch it'll actually be LIGHT... it's only single 3/4" thick material throughout...

All dowels I've used have been 1.5" diameter... IDK what your supplier has available... any size over 1" is sufficient just secure the dowel well...

It'll be sufficient... I'd pre-drill the holes on the end where the screws are going to attach tho... as you don't want to split the material... then screw and glue them well in place...
