Single 10" sub for spl

So I got the sa10. Now after reading a lot I've realized that amps have come a loooong way from my mtx 2150x. The dd 500w amp that is 7x7x2 inches looks ridiculous. Or the small sundown saz600 is unbelievable.

700 for one speaker....whatta deal.
( I can put together s system for that amount)
I'm about to drop $700 on 2 tweeters. To each is own

IA also has small footprint big power.

"no replacement for displacement".
Very true. Also google search "Hoffman's Iron Law".

In your favor here is that a 10" sub that can withstand 1000W is easy to come by, and 1000W is pretty inexpensive these days. 100$ for something OK, 300$ for very good quality, 500$ for premium quality (no the buck a watt minimum of days gone by).

SA 10 is a fine platform. Care in constructing a good box and 800W on tap should serve you nicely. Some will suggest 1200W amp. Keep in mind, Sundown subs should be close to indestructible at or under rated power, as you exceed rated you do have a chance of breaking it if you're not mindful.

Oh are we showing our internet dlck size? My tweeters cost $700.... I'd be more impressed with lower end stuff sounding just as good because the install

I understand that an sa10 with even 1000 watts won't approach any system on here. Hell most of you put more in your girls car. Lol

I'm just starting out and think I'm on the right track. I want to buy 1000ish watts in an amp that's easy to sell if I want to upgrade in the future. That's why I want sundown or dd. Seems like they hold value and sell easy.

Ok, thanks for all the input. I'm designing my box. I want to keep it on one side of behind the seat and have a port going through the ski hole. Here is what I have designed. Please let me know if this makes any sense. This is my first go around at a ported box. Net volume is 1.12, port diameter is 3.5 with a lenght of 20inches. It says that the tuning is 32hz. Right now I have two elbows in my port. 10" of the port is external.

trillest11, I wouldn't worry too much about resell of the amp once you hit that mark. They always sell.

It's always better to put more power on a sub....even if it's a little past their rated rms mark. Makes for strong power and better sounding. Just keep an eye on the gain.
