Simple Gain Setting Question

Just to make sure i'm doing this right;

When i'm using the dmm to get to the correct voltage which number do i use for power?

I have an amp that puts out 950wrms @ 2 ohms, but the subs i am using are only rated for 350 wrms which i'm going to wire to 2 ohms.

So, do i use 950, 700, or 350?

If you're using it for musical purposes, use a -3 dB or -6 dB sine wave test tone to set the gains and use 700 watts @ 2 ohms (37.4 volts). I prefer using a 6 dB overlap, myself.

As for your head unit, it's for level matching the sub with the rest of the system. Use it at the highest setting when setting the gains and turn it down if you find the sub is overpowering the rest of the system.

It's a Volvo factory amp, so there's a custom wire harness between the head and amp.
