I do have to agree with you there...Looking forward to the results. Looks like a promising driver.
I'll tell you this much... I'm very tempted to run a pair of these in my Civic after auditioning this one. My dual 10" vented box would slam HARD with two of those on my SAX-100.2 bridged. That is IMO, of course, since I run a pair of my 10" SD-1s now and they are more than enough bass for me daily... but man, this new BM is an even smoother sounding sub than the SD-1 -- and that is pretty impressive since I love how those SD-1s sound on low-power.I do have to agree with you there...
Even though I am a 'basket hater'. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
Surround is not all that wide, much narrower than the previous BM.Looks like it has a pretty big foam surround too.....
How can you tell? There isn't a cone picture.Looks like it has a pretty big foam surround too.....
Look at the 3rd picture... look how big the surround looks in comparison to the whole assembly... Looks pretty tall imo.How can you tell? There isn't a cone picture.
why not test it in a car with the rear seats not able to fold down........ i think everybody would like a worst case scenario with good/above average results //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gifBasket haters! *laughs*
I like the basket... but the fact of the matter is Nick didn't pick it for looks; he is using it since it has more mechanical clearance than a 12-spoke, offers better cooling, and allows the use of the carefully placed lead wires due to the taller clearance -- they won't slap until you exceed linear x-max by a substantial level. The higher clearance also allows for the removal of the triple joint and the creation of two separate joints to spread out the load a bit.
For that matter... it actually does look alot better when you have it in front of you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
I personally did 2 hours of thermal testing on this little guy as well, and it passed with flying colors playing sine wave material for the entirety. Of course, the neatest thing about this driver is that it doesn't require a boat load of power to reach high x-max levels. It is also one of the smoothest sounding woofers I've ever personally listened to as Nick and myself auditioned it in my Civic with a mere 200 watts.
Low-end extension is stellar sealed... ported it would be a little beast, although Nick and I did not test that alignment yet -- Chad will likely do so //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
