Ok here's the deal. I currently have MB quarts DSC216 comps.

I not really happy with the performance i am getting from them.. (Midbass is weak! and the tweeters are SOOOOOO HARSH!).

So i want to upgrade my speakers..

I can get Alpine Type X comps. for $76 or Boston Pro60's for $210. (have a gift certificate).

Anyways, should i get the Type X's and then spend the extra money to sound deadner my doors? Or should i just spend all the money on the Bostons and drop them in the door..

Thanks,

Nick

EDIT: I have 250x2@2ohm or 150x2@4ohm to work with...

If I was in your position, I'd deaden your doors first, then see how you like your MB Quarts. You'd be surprised how much of a difference you'll see after you do a nice job deadening. See the door deadening tutorial stickied at the top of this forum.

Another thing, I'd definetly go with the Boston Pro60's hands down, especially if you have a gift certificate. But deaden your doors FIRST, then see if you really need to upgrade.

Yes, make sure your installation quality is super before you change comps.

Then, if you still want to try something new, try Orion P series, PPI DCX, or MTX TXC... they have 4.8mm xmax or greater... set the high pass crossover lower than normal, such as at 60hz.
