should i use the crossovers that came with my kappas w/out a amp???

those kappas are some awesome speakers....if you power them right....ive got a 4 channel planet audio powering 200 watts to each of them and they are so clean....however, a head unit cant do it. if i were you i would wait and get a good amp to power them

yea, they get real loud very easily and still sound awesome.....i always push a lilttle more into my speakers, just make sure you dont have your gain too high...and yea you should use the crossover.... i dont think it would hurt the mid or the tweet, but i think it would sound better with it

Correct me if I am wrong biut the crossover you are talking about is like an inline thing that doesnt require a power/ground wiring. If so, then yes defiately use the crossover....I may not rememver right but It seemed like something in the owners manual of my kappas said to never use them without the inline crossover thingys.....

DO NOT use the speakers without the crossover that they came with or something like them that will split the frequencies up

you do not need to power/ground the crossovers

powering them on a head unit will lead to nothing but blown speakers and/or a blown internal amp

why? because the speakers as a pair (one set, 1tweet/1woofer) will induce a 2 ohm load... your internal amplifier on your head unit cannot handle it.

want to be wise, get a good amp to run em... try to look for an Audio Art amplifier on ebay or something. very well matched for full range speakers. do not get a digital amp or a monobloc amp... just a good 2 channel amp, normal mosfet powered, that is 2 ohm stereo stable

Without the crossover you'd probably blow the tweeter first.. The crossover is passive, and not only splits the frequencies from woofer to tweet, but also helps maintain a constant impedance from the input side. Kappa's are 4 ohms combined, unless the specs say different.

ok so i'll be getting a amp asap...question is will it damage a 4 channel amp if i only have 2 channels hooked up to speakers at first untill i can replace the back speakers...

i think if i hooked up the other 2 channels to my 6x9 xplodes it would blow them...

i was looking at the kicker 600.4 (75watts rms x 4)...

what do you think???
