Should i use Aeros for the 2 18"s

Im trying to cut down on size here, i was originally going to do a slot port, 180 sq in, but i might cut it down to 150 or so, 12cubes net, 35hz tuning, but it will be above the window line

ive been thinking of running 6" aeros, 4 of them in single chamber box, so 2 6"ers per 18 pretty much, is this even enough, im not good at aeros, never used them or even looked into them, but im uderstanding that you can get by with less port area and still not have port noise since the flared ends

i searched a little, most say a little gain on the meter with aeros, but will there be any audible difference daily wise?

I'm running a 4" aeroport on my fiberglass box right now and I can't tell any audible difference between slot and aeroport. If you do either one of them right, I think the difference is really negligible. If you do more than 2 6" aero's per 18 I think you're going to get into some really nasty lengths on the ports, not to mention the 6" aeros are still extremely expensive (like $35 per port) compared to their 4" counter parts. Let me know what you think.

You need to realize just how big aero's are. a 4 inch aero needs a 7 inch circle to mount it (even though it flares into 4 inches). I had a 5 cube box with three 4" aeros and the aeros took up a LOT of space...not displacement, but with those flared ends they take up a lot of the room you have to work with...I had to slam them all into a corner of the enclosure to fit my 15 in, and this was a 5 cubic foot box.

personally i did notice a difference for daily when i went from a slot to two 4" for my ap. it was noticably louder

on an some what related note, how many 4 inchers would you need for a single 18? or 15?

keeping the same amount of port area or using less with the aeros?

umm enough port are for say an 18" fi bl. i was thinking somewhere in the 110 range, but i have no idea how much are a 4"er has
Based upon the pi*r^2 formula, about 12.5 square inches per 4 " port. Comparing the 4" to a 6" port will yield a difference of about 15.75 square inches of port. That's why the claim to fame for a 6" aeroport is that it allows for an 18% increase in air flow over a 4 incher.

If I remember correctly (it's been a few years), more port area won't really help you get lower; assuming that the tuning remains the same. It should generally help it get louder, but I think there's a point where you can go too far and the box can start losing control of the cone; but that's a pretty extreme case.
