Should I use a sound processor?

So I a have a 07 Silverado (new body) and am wanting to keep the factory headunit. For now I will just be hooking up a sub/amp, but eventually will be getting a 5 channel amp and then changing out the door speakers and running them as well. I have always gone with aftermart HU's, but because of all the adapters and extra $ it will cost, I am keeping the factory one. I was originally going to use a line output converter (Scosche SLC4) but it seems you will get better SQ using a sound processor (lookin at AudioControl LC6i). Would it really matter which one I go with, will there be a SQ difference? Thanks

Chances are good that the factory unit uses a good deal of internal EQ specific to the factory speakers and install locations. To get it to sound best with aftermarket amps and speakers, you need to be able to get rid of that and get a flat signal. A factory integration processor is the way to do that.

To be honest too, you can really get a harness and adapter for an aftermarket on plus a decent aftermarket head unit for under 200 dollars. it wont be top of the line, but it will definitely do its purpose well. In my opinion it really is a good investment.

^ There's a winner.

for less than $200 you can get a Kenwood excelon x693 or something similar and get god like sq.

Installing a head unit in these trucks is simple as putting on your shoes. very very veeeeerrry simple., and clean

Unless he wants to keep OnStar and the door chimes and so on. The Chevys with OnStar are a pain closely followed by the Fords with Sync.
Go with Metra Axxess for the OnStar, door chimes and steering wheel controls...I have an '08 Silverado and replaced EVERYTHING with aftermarket and it works fine...oh, and I do agree it would be worth it to replace the H/U. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
