me: 2005 model 15" Kicker solobaric L5, mint. used for only 3-4 months tops. in a ported enclosure

for: two used 12" Kicker Solobaric L7's (the gunmetal versions). i think there 2002/2003 models? also in a box as well. one of the 12's has haze on it while the other seems good. the haze doesnt affect speaker performance.

out of the 2, which sub set-up would yield in getting louder, spl, and SQ? i will be running 500rms to this and eventually upgrade with a better amp if i went with the l7s.

what you guys think?

i dont really think they upgraded anything besides aestetics between the years, but it depends on how much room u have. you will need at least 1400 wrms for the l7's. They arent known for their sq, but the 2 l7's with appropriate power should be louder then the single l5. just my .02

i would do it if you knew for sure they werent abused. L7s will get louder and most likely sound better. but youll have to send them the proper power to get a good boost in spl. youll have more cone area though already so they should be a lil louder than the single L5.

whats up with the haze? howd that get there? i dont knwo if ive seen anything like that before......

no idea about the haze. im gonna try to meet up with the guy whose trading and check them out myself. i dont know the history of the l7's, but ill make sure to ask what amp(s) and power was ran with the subs. ill ask to figure out how the haze got on one of them as well.

i was planning to run the brutus hifonics bx1000d but im afraid ill be killing my factory alternator in my honda civic //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

oooo yeah, that alternator is gonna have problems pushing 1000 watts. Dont they have like, an 80 amp alternator? You could do it, but I would look into getting a new alt. asap.

Only difference between the two Solo models, is the newer models have Solokon, er somethng like that. Its been a while since I have owned some L7's, so I cant remember what it is. I think it has to do with cooling for the voicecoils. Oh yeah, and the cosmetic part changed, but you already knew that.

i believe its a 70amp? correct me if im wrong. its a 2002 civic

even if i dont push the equipment to its limits, would it be straining my alt just when the amp light goes on? i listen to my music 60% volume at most, only time i would ever go past that is when my friends want to see how loud it gets

I wouldnt know, I have never owned an imported car, I just know they have wimpy alternators. You could get by without the alternator, but it might end up killing it. I would suggest "The Big 3". You would only need 4 guage wire to do so, but it should help you out.

i did the big-3 few months back and i failed at it.

i had the first 2 done, but when i did the alt + to batt + .... the fuse that was inbetween the 2 blew along with my main car battery fuse in the fusebox. ever since that incident, i didnt bother to try again.

i used 4ga & 80amp ANL fuse for the alt > batt. my audio amp was a 50A fuse and power/ground wires were 4ga as well.

im starting to back down this trade just thinking of the possible alternator issues:crap:

You need a bigger fuse for that.

You need to calculate the fuse size not for how many amps your alt puts out, but how much your wire can take. Throw an 80 amp fuse in there between your alt. and battery

hes got the 2 12's in a sealed box thats 1ft cubic. not sure about the fhz.

what can i expect from these 2 L7's with a 500rms amp? i will most likely upgrade to an better amp (somewhere nearby the 1000rms range) in the future.
