Um... well, the polyfill also keeps the sub from bottoming out because it adds extra resistance. I'm not sure if it will make a difference or not at 30 Hz. It could sound bad for a couple of reasons, 1. being that the sub just doesn't work well at that low of frequencies or 2. If the enclosure is ported, it might not be made for that low of frequencies. To answer green_slip's question, yes, just buy a bag or two of the polyfill stuff, and spread it out evenly in the enclosure, but make sure it isn't all over the subwoofer, you want the sub to have a little room from the polyfill. In addition, yes, you can put the polyfill in a ported box as well, it does basically the same thing in both kinds of enclosures. However, make sure the polyfill isnt in the way of the port hole.
