Should I put firewall grommet

So I was running 4 gauge through my firewall and couldn't get it through the factory rubber grommet so I just drilled a hole slightly bigger than the wire and ran it through. i could easily fish the wire through without it chafing on the metal. I had a plastic grommet but couldn't find the drill bit big enough for the grommet so I just threw it away. Is it really necessary to have a grommet there? Will I have any issues from it at all? It's kicker hyperflex so it has a good insulator on the outside.

I just wrapped mine in techs flex and it seems to be fine...
What is techs flex? Would something like a layer of duct tape or something work at well. My only concerns are the vibrations from driving but I tried to make sure there were no burrs on the hole but the metal is kinda thin there so idk.

Is it the stuff that as you stretch it lengthwise it gets tighter on the wire - kinda like a chinese finger trap? Kicker put some black stuff like that on the battery end of the wire for aesthetics I guess but is interwoven and seems strong.

I've never thought about it before but a small piece of wire loom would probably work fairly well too. Squeeze it together to get it in the hole and when you release it the ribs on it would hold it in place.

I used a rubber plug..3/4in that I got at Orileys for like $4 and pluged the hole, and cut an for the wire to go through, and siliconed it,and around outside of the graument before I did anythingelse so it set up when I finished the rest of the install.Still there today/sealed:D

Yes get one asap
I decided to put one on today. It would put me at ease that there wouldn't be a short if he vibrations were enough to cut through the insulation on the wire. I wish I had dealt with it before I did all my routing but I got the time today so I'll do it the right way. It's easier to fix now than have a problem later on and be trying to figure out what the hell happened.
