Where to mount amplifier

Hello. I recently bought some new subs from Crutchfield and I temporarily wired everything together and got it working good, but I'm not sure where the best places will be to mount the amplifier. I would like some suggestions from people who install this stuff and know where the best place to mount an amp is. I can't mount it on the side or top of the sub box because the amp is too large.. I don't know how I feel about mounting it behind the box. Any suggestions or tips will be much appreciated. 1993 Lexus ES300

mount it on the back of your rear seat. if you can release your seat down its very easy and will make a nice clean install. why not behind the box? most likely and im not trying to offend you but that looks like a cheap amp with little power so most likely you wont damage the amp with vibrations if its mounted on the back of the box. if your pushing alot of power id advise you not to but by the look of your subs it doesnt look like your pushing much but on the other hand i like to mount mine behind the rear seat.

I tried to put your images here in the post but I guess imageshack doesn't allow that

Anyway what brand is that? S/O? Is that the brand?

Anyway mount that amp to the back of the box or back of the seat like the person before said you do not have anything to worry about as far as vibrations.

Also when you want to replace your equipment for something better do some research first.

Well, not much room.Back of the seat is good, but that amp will prob. get hot and shut down on you, unless you put like 5or 6 washers under each foot, or take 2 strips of wood(one for the top 2 feet, and one for the bottom 2 feet approx. 1-1 1/2in wide to elevate the amp to get some kind of air under it, would work fine.I suggest to take that sub box out, place a sheet of 5/8 or 3/4 plywood cut out to fit the trunk floor, spray paint the color you like or cover it with? Then place the sub box back in as far to the rt as you can get it, and use Large L-brackets to screw down the box(Stabilize) then I would take that amp, and lay it on the side of the box at the top, and the bottom flat to the false floor and screw the top to the box, and the bottom to the false floor. It will be at an angle and will provide space in between the sub box, and amp, and as the subs move, the air circulation will help keep that amp cool as well not being mounted flush:D It kinda looks tricked out if you do them coming at you(amps)but HEAT is the #1 source of Amplifier destruction/Failure.This is what I do, and it isnt expensive, and my amps seem to perform without any issues.Hope this helps. This is my opinion, as you have the supply to the amp/grounds ect, and will not take much to add or cut off:D

i went to home depot and bought velco for like $8 and velcrod mine to the back of my seat, its sick looking and very easy to access

Not a good place to put that amp without some kind of fan or heatsink. Sooner or later it WILL get too hot and shut down.

Well it seems that it would be ok in that application, but for how long is the question due to it still being mounted flush in certain spots, and not free underneath the entire amp. Also consider that,or remember to keep the wiring OFF the amp as it will run hot,and possibly melt the wiring. It happened to me, and cost me a $200 dollar repair once, and a lesson to elevate, and keep all wiring clear..especially the RCAs(a pain to rerun).Just something also to consider,Velcro will work its way loose, even the X-duty Grey, when hitting potholes during the week, and not checking the stability of the source being in tact..Not recommended, best to screw/bolt down, also to add time to theives wanting to snag and run with what you just spent your hard money on as well:sneaky:

you gotta make sure the amp is mounted in the right position. i had the rf t1500.1bd and it did not get hot what so ever. you gotta know how to set your amp right. bnr is right about moving it up and down alot so if you do choose this dont **** with it and leave it alone.

It would be super easy to mount behind the box but I read a couple places that it's not normally the best place to put the amp. But I may just do that instead. It's a good amp. I felt the back of the box with the bass turned up and the back doesn't vibrate too much so I'll probably just do that.

I guess for $169 shipped it is not that bad of a deal.

How does it sound?
It's Crutchfield's exclusive brand called Sound Ordnance so I know it's not junk, especially after I read all the positive reviews. But it sounds great man; I'm very very pleased with it. I would highly recommend it to anyone. 3 year warranty too which is nice.

Unfortunately I can't mount it on the rear seats because they don't fold down. I would have liked to screw down the amp to the floor of the trunk but I wasn't sure how to go about that. I do like audiobaun's suggestion though. But does everyone agree that mounting the amp behind the box is at least a decent route to go? I'll definitely put some washers or some sort of separators to give it room to breathe.
