i'm sitting here at 1:45 thinking of giving 8 8" woofers a try at SPL. now i know this isn't the best time in the world to think of ideas like this but, i have the power to split em at 250 per sub, give them a good amount of air space, and it would just be fun lol. my question is would it really be worth it to take a potent 8" driver and drop 8 in my car port them and go for SPL?? what kind of cone area does that equal to i'm thinking around 3 15"s but i'm not sure. just a thought of mine let me know what you guys think:D :thumbsup

Certainly feasible.

My reccomendation for 8s from here: http://www.nuera-acoustic.ca/products.html

Since you're buying 8 of them, they're only $29/driver.

They're pretty wicked little 8s.

Fs 28 Hz

VC Diameter 50 mm

AIR GAP HEIGHT 8 mm

RATED POWER INPUT 120 W

MAXIMUM POWER INPUT 230 W

FORCE FACTOR, BL 13.35 TM

MAGNET WEIGHT (51 oz) 1427 g

MOVING MASS 95 g

Sd 220cm^2

X-max 12 mm

Vas 23 Liters

Qts 0.30

Qms 10.53

Qes 0.30

Pretty **** impressive for a $29 8" woofer. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The Sd for 8 of them would be about 1760cm^2. That is just a bit more than you'd expect from a pair of your average 15s.

lol my thoughts exactly:D. see now i have another decision, sell my single 12" SI D2 and run 4 8"s for daily and 8 for comps or what?? lol i have too much time on my hands.

why dont you try to run eight 8"s with a goal of SQ. image that kind of tight and accurate bass. anyway, it is your car, do what you want.
b/c that would require more time and effort than i would personally feel the need to do. when 1 or 2 12"s will get the job done just as well i just would love to piss people off when my 8" subs are as loud or louder than their dual 15"s.
