Should i go with 1 15" or 2 12"s

I am kinda in a dilemma, i want to put some new/more powerful subs in (currently have two infinity reference 1240's sharing 350rms, sealed). I have about a 300 dollar budget for the subs. Some of the choices I've narrowed it down to are:

1. Two type R's (12"s) or Two Kicker comp cvr 12"s

2. 1 RE SX 15"

3. 1 kicker cvx 15"

I know type R's like to be ported, how much room would each 12 inch type R need? Also, how big of a difference does ported vs sealed make?? (i do understand that with the wrong box any sub will be horrible)

^^^ I'll be buying a new amp to power what ever sub(s) i get, so power isn't an issue (well i don't want to push more than 1.2 kw but thats plenty for me). I know the cvx's are going for like 280 shipped on ebay and someone from ecoustics.com said he heard one in a shop that was just as loud/totatally comprable to his friends RE SX on the same amount of power. Does anyone know what i'd pay for a 15 sx? thx

I have 2 kicker comp 12's and they are very decent sub. gets loud and doesnt sound all that bad. i'd like to try out the CVX tho. heard from polecat they are pretty nice...but then again he works for them and might be selling the product but he seems like a pretty honest guy.

I don't think a single R, would outperform a RE SX or CVX. I know R's go way past their reccommended rms, but 1200 watts too one r seems ridiculous to me.

If i get a 15 i'm gonna have to check but i don't know if it will fit in my trunk (my 6x9's get in the way towards the back of my trunk). So i woould either have to have it facing a wierd way or way in the back of my trunk. How do upfiring subs sound, any diff. between that and your normal rearfiring.

I guess i'll go measur my trunk before i jump assume anything though.

he'd get two 12" R's... which would be my choice for overall SQL...

OR, to save money... try the NEW referance 12's... with about a kilowatt of power...

They do VERY WELL ported... and sound good...

HOWEVER... first, going ported makes a HUGE difference in output... second, 350rms is not enough power to move those two subs effectlively... I have over a 1000 watts going to my pair daily and they do very well...

suggestions:

1) GO PORTED!

2) GET A MORE POWERFUL AMP!

you will be Oh so impressed... i promise... and a 1200rms amp will run you $200 or so, and a ported box built by none other than you, will be $50

trust me, ported and more watts = //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yah i just figured out the ported thing first hand, my friend just put 2 10w3's in his car in a ported enclosure and its a good three times as loud as my setup of course my amp has no power. Hearing two tens that are basically entry level sound that loud ported definitaly convinced me of the need for a ported box lol. Now to decide on the sub(s)...

you can find 2 used L7 12's for that price in the right box they will be louder then you need not to much in the sound quality department but spl is out of this world

I have a feeling any of the subs i am looking at are gonna blow my mind (and or ears) compared to what i'm running now. So spl isn't a big deal as i have no interest in competing or anything (as long as it's louder than all of my friends systems im happy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif ). I guess i'm kinda going for sql, i don't want anything that is loud at the expense of sq like i always here about l7's.

My biggest concern is if i go with teh cvx or sx (15''s) or even an Type r 15 whether it will fit in my trunk, i know i have plenty of ft^ to spare but i think it would have to be upfiring and don't know how that would work/sound any advice?

BTW its a 96 camry.
