Should I go from a JL 500/1 to a Nakamichi PA-1500?

Right now I have a 500/1. I am thinking it might be time to get another higher power mono amp with even better quality for under $300. Right now I am running a JBL 12GTi, might soon run an IDmax. I hear the Slash series is not too efficient, also a phase knob would help too.

Would the Nakamichi be a worthy upgrade or should I look into something else?

Run more power into that jbl sub and it will love it more than the idmax
