My bro and I was talking about it.. we were debating whether I should have my explorer's underbody sprayed with rust protector because I live in Michigan and Michigan's weather can be harsh sometimes

We both never experienced having any of our vehicles' underbody sprayed with rust protector..

What are the pros and cons of getting the underbody sprayed?

What should be the price to get my whole underbody done?

Should I do it?

any advices or tips would be appreciated, thanks in advance

P.S. just in case you are wondering, the vehicle is a 04 ford explorer limited 4.6 V8 that I bought last winter.. It sits at 49k miles right now..

Supergumby, Yes I think I would like to.. since it is going to be done in the way I want it...

azbass, fait- but I am afraid that I would not do as good job as those guys with spray gun would?

I can imagine it would help when selling but my point is that do they really protect my vehicle from rust?

I am not planning on giving my vehicle up for a long time (maybe never)

Also, like I said before, my explorer is sitting at 50k miles right now so is it too late for me to apply some of those products as maybe some rust were developed on the underbody already?

Def do it if you have the motivation, even if your not going to keep it would help with selling it... Anyways you can easily do it your self. Buy Chassis Saver paint you can find it on ebay.. simply wire brush with a hand brush or angle grinder with wire wheel all the rust off. You only need to get the loose stuff off but the more the better. Then clean everything with acetone or paint thinner and use a throw away brush and brush the chassis saver on with a real thin coat, wait 3-4 hours and put on a second coat and your done. Comes out glossy black but the sun does fade the glossy look in about 3-4 years. I haven't had it on my 84' K5 for long but is defiantly strong stuff, should keep your truck free of rust despite alot of salt water ect. for a longgg time.
