Should I get a second battery or a bigger battery?

I need some advice my setup is 2 12" kicker l5's Lightning audio 3000md (~1200 rms) and a MTX 50.4 (50 RMS per channel) i plan on getting a new 4 channel that does about 80 rms my electrical is all stock right now im going to be doing the big three upgrade soon

I Want to know if i should get one big battery for under the hood to power everything or if i should get a smaller battery for the trunk one like the kinetik hc600 or hc800 and just run the amps off of it?

why get a battery if you're not sure you're going to need it? although ~1500 watts on stock alternator might be hitting that sweet spot where one may help you out during bursts...

If you were to add as a second battery I would go KHC1400.

Your question is about adding more battery but your concern is that you are drawing a lot of power and plan on drawing more with a new amp. Why don’t you find a way to see how much you are using because that will tell you how much room you have if any to add a bigger amp. You could use an amp probe to see how much you are drawing or a voltmeter to see what your voltage drops to when everything is turned on. Don’t waste money on a second battery if you have not done the big three and if you don’t have a big enough alternator to keep up with what you have. Adding batteries does nothing for a car that does not have an alternator big enough for the system your running.

So you need to do the big three then do some testing to see if you can keep your voltage from dropping if your voltage does drop you need more power from an alternator. Batteries don’t make power they just store power. There are lots of dumb and lazy people trying to push batteries around here.
