should I get 12 ga or 16 ga speaker wire for my 125 watt components?

I am not sure which one to get..

I would get 16 gauge if it is sufficent for my set up just to save some money..

But if 12 gauge is recommended then I will just shell out some more money for 12 ga

I will be running 125 watts per door from my kicker 650.4

any input would be appreciated, thanks

also anyone got any idea what gauge power wire inputs does kicker 650.4 have?

from the looks of it, looks like I should be getting 4 gauge?

honestly, 12ga is good enough for most subs. 16ga is good enough for less then 200w //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

aight I m getting 16 ga thats for sure now

but now i m torn at which one to get 1/0 gauge or 4 gauge for the 650.4 kicker amp that I have?

i decided to go out and grab a leftover 1/0 and test fit it into my 650.4, I couldnt get all of them in but I got most of them. so I think I can just get 1/0 to be safe?

or just **** it and do 4 gauge lol?

based on knukonceptz's specification sheet, they said 50 to 60 amps should have at least 4 gauge wire

and I got 54 amps load if I will be using all of 600-650 watts out of my amp..

650/12 volt= 54 amps.. am i making sense here?

if so then I ll just buy 4 gauge..

yeah...seriously, you can run 150a no problems on 4 ga, so 1/0 on that Kicker amp is a WEE bit overkill.

But hell, if you want to spend the extra go for it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

naw i already pulled the trigger and got 4 gauge..

I wanted to do 4 gauge since I am running out of room under the trim pieces of my explorer ha, so 4 gauge should go thru no problem.. while I wasnt sure about 1/0, they are pretty thick..

do 0 ga.. trust me.. you will tell yourself you won't upgrade now but you will.. and no reason to have to buy wire twice.. now all you will have to do is switch the fuse when you upgrade.. you may need some reducers to fit it in the amp..
