Should I even bother dynamating?

If you're competing (which I'd assume you are, why else would you bother with 10kW for daily //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif) you'll have to check the regs of your organization...most set limits on how much deadening you can use for a street class without going into a higher class.

But for sound quality purposes, you really can't deaden enough in your doors.

You have a good point but it dose help in some places.

Streetbeating with emphasis on loud/deepness, so mainly SPL.
for street beating **** deadening. I run 4 L7s and my trunk and glass looks like they are going to pop out. When listening to my system though, inside the car you can't hear any rattle simply because the bass is so loud. I'd recommend you dynamat though simply because 10kw on 2 18s is going to piss a lot of people off, so dynamat it so you can enjoy your crazy loud bass and nobody has to hear it nearly as loud. It will still sound loud as shit outside the car regardless.

sound deadening = lower resonant frequency of panels = saved power = more energy gets to your ears = your brains will pop outta your head sooner with 10K watts and gawd knows what spl

IMO it is a good thing... not just to get rid of the ghetto rattle but to ensure you hear more of the music. hop in and ride around in a toyota then go hop in a caddy or lexus and see if you can tell the difference in the ambient noise level. That is your answer right thar!

LOL

As to why would I bother for 10kw daily, well... why not?
Keeping your hearing is one, but I'm an SQueer, don't listen to me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

It's a lot of work to get a power level that you won't be able to listen to for very long periods of time.

In my opinion, unless you are concerned about adding weight to the vehicle, deaden everything you can.

Also, be considerate of folks and turn it down when appropriate.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

Yup, I enjoy hearing the mellow pluck of a stand-up bass only to have a horrendous TWANG! following the instrument...really makes me feel like I'm in a concert hall...

a metal concert hall...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

no deadener btw.

I hate that noise! I wish I could afford deadener. =\
I'm up to 50sq. ft per door, and it's still not enough...certain kettle drum passages bring out some spots I haven't covered well enough yet //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Though I'm hoping if I get new plastic panels and coat the backs of those with spray-on stuff it'll take care of the rest...
